Quick Notes

Before you start the install

Use Bannerlord 1.2.12

Roll back your game version first so the installed files and launcher order match the current TAOM build.

Remove older TAOM files

Clear out previous module folders before copying new ones in to avoid mixed-version crashes or missing assets.

Unblock the DLL files

Windows may block newly downloaded DLLs, so make sure you unblock them before launching the game.

Manual Installation

Installation steps

  1. Download the mod from ModDB or Nexus Mods. Nexus requires two files.
  2. Extract the downloaded archives with WinRAR, 7-Zip, or a similar tool.
  3. Open your Modules folder: Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\ Your drive letter may vary depending on where Bannerlord is installed.
  4. Delete older TAOM files from the Modules folder before copying new ones in.
  5. Copy every extracted file into the Modules folder. The package already includes the required dependencies.
  6. Unblock DLLs. Right-click each DLL, open Properties, and check "Unblock", or run: Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Filter *.dll | Unblock-File
  7. If you played the mod before, delete cached shaders: C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\Shaders\TerrainShaders\LOTR_Map

Press Play, then set Terrain Quality to Medium or higher in the in-game options.

Troubleshooting

Common install issues

Cannot load a DLL file?

Unblock the DLL files manually or run the PowerShell command from the install steps above. If PowerShell returns to a blank line, the command completed successfully.

Main loading screen looks frozen?

The first load can take a while. If the horse is not moving yet, let the game continue loading.
